Our story

North Staffs Angling: Enhancing Community Well-being and Conserving Local Waters

North Staffs Angling is a dedicated team of experienced local anglers committed to serving our community. Our mission extends beyond the sport itself; we aim to develop local waters to foster community spirit, enhance local living environments, and create unique recreational opportunities for everyone.

We believe that angling offers a powerful avenue for promoting well-being, strengthening community bonds, and connecting with nature.

Our Core Philosophy and Community Benefits

  • Escape the Daily Grind and Find Your Peace by the Water
Angling provides a valuable respite from the demands of modern life. We pitch fishing as an opportunity to relax, de-stress, and connect with nature, moving the focus away from just the catch and towards mental rejuvenation.
  • Build New Friendships and Strengthen Local Bonds
Our club aims to foster a strong social environment to include and support the local community. It is a place for like-minded people to meet, swap stories, and share experiences, cultivating lasting friendships.
  • A Welcoming Space for Everyone
Inclusivity is at our core. North Staffs Angling is open to all ages, genders, and abilities—from complete beginners to experienced anglers.
  • More Than Just Fishing: A Place for the Whole Family
We emphasise family-friendly events and accessible facilities (paths, fishing platforms) designed to cater to a wider audience, including people with mobility challenges or families with children.

Long-Term Vision: Education, Conservation, and Community Partnerships

Our long-term goals focus on securing the future of the sport and the health of our local environment.

Focus on Education & Skill Building

Learn a New Skill with Expert Guidance
In the future we aim to offer structured programs to help newcomers develop confidence and competence. We will provide beginner workshops, taster sessions, and coaching clinics where individuals can learn essential skills—from casting techniques to knot tying—in a supportive environment.

Inspire the Next Generation
We are committed to making the sport accessible to all:

  • For membership fee's, please see the Clubmate page

We are actively organising Family Days to engage with the community, encourage youth participation, and secure the future of angling.

Environmental Guardians

North Staffs Angling proudly serves as the guardian of our local waters. We aim to be at the forefront of local conservation efforts:

  • Water clean-ups.
  • Habitat restoration projects.
  • Promoting responsible practices like catch-and-release.

Strengthening Our Community Through Local Initiatives

We are actively seeking collaborations with a variety of partners to grow and develop our local waters sustainably. We are looking at working closely with other local partnerships, schools, Environment Agency, and the Angling Trust to achieve our shared goals.

Our history

The club's dedicated committee possesses a wealth of collective knowledge and experience. To enhance our operations, we are seeking to expand this team by recruiting new committee members. We are also exploring the creation of additional specialised roles within the club, such as Bailiffs and Match Secretary.

We take great pride in our contributions and are committed to doing everything in our power to foster an inclusive, member-focused environment and improve the club for everyone.

Our goal is to maintain transparency and open communication with all members, providing regular updates on future plans and any necessary changes required to meet all regulatory requirements.
